Suffolk Sheriff To Host Corrections Career Fair In Yaphank On July 15

It will showcase career paths ahead of the Corrections Exam registration on July 23.

YAPHANK, NY — The Suffolk County Sheriff’s office is set to host its Corrections Career Fair on July 15 at the Yaphank Correctional Facility.

The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

The informational event will showcase the career paths available within the office through stations of different corrections units, highlighting the diverse opportunities. Participants will be able to connect one-on-one with the men and women of the agency about the careers and benefits of the job.

The event will include representatives from the Emergency Service, Corrections K-9, Wellness, Internal Security, and Community Relations units, as well as the Corrections Intelligence Center, Sheriff’s Anti-Trafficking Initiative, Rehabilitation and The Learning Center, Tech, finance, and more.

Representatives from Civil Service will also be available to help people sign up for the open corrections exam and answer any questions.

Registration for the corrections exam is open until July 23.

Under the department's new contract, starting salaries have been raised to $60,000 and top pay is $155,000 after eight years.
