"Voice of gold": The legally blind singer is heading to Hollywood on the show's 20th season after a successful audition.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A singer hailing from Patchogue is heading to Hollywood, after his "American Idol" season 20 audition ended with a standing ovation from the show's judges and a hug from Lionel Richie. Christian Guardino is a legally blind singer who also starred on "America's Got Talent" in 2017.

Guardino's mother Beth was invited onto the stage after his audition on Sunday's show, where the judges' praise brought her to tears.

"I don't know if we've seen it this so naturally this year yet," judge Luke Bryan told the Guardinos.

Katy Perry added that Guardino had "a voice of gold."
