84-Year-Old Woman Killed In Fire At Senior Apartment Complex
Several others were injured, including a 74-year-old woman who was in critical condition, according to Nassau County police.
PLAINVIEW, NY — An 84-year-old woman died and several other people were taken to hospitals Sunday after a fire at a senior apartment complex in Plainview, according to police.
The blaze occurred around 5 a.m. in the 100 block of Central Park Road, Nassau County police said. Authorities arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the second-story roof and evacuated residents.
One woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 74-year-old woman who suffered burns was taken to a nearby hospital and was in critical condition, according to police. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, two of whom were brought to an area hospital and were in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing, police said. Firefighters from agencies in Plainview, Levittown, Farmingdale and Bethpage responded.
