Driver Killed In Chain Reaction Crash Involving 7 Vehicles: Police
It happened on Thursday afternoon on Old Country Road in Plainview, police said.

PLAINVIEW, NY — One person was killed in a multi-vehicle, chain reaction crash on Old Country Road in Plainview, police said.
A 71-year-old man, who was behind the wheel of a 2018 Nissan Murano on Thursday afternoon when he struck the back of a 2012 Toyota minivan, police said.
The driver of the Nissan then crossed over into eastbound traffic and collided with a 2007 Volvo, driven by a 50-year-old woman, and a 2020 Kia, with a 35-year-old woman driving, police said.

The Nissan Murano continued on Old Country Road and struck a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit, driven by a 49-year-old female and had a 24-year-old passenger, police said.
The Volkswagen was then collided collision with a 2013 Toyota Camry being operated by a 27-year-old female, causing the Toyota Camry to be struck in the rear by a 2021 Subaru, operated by a 51-year-old female.

As a result of the collision, the 71-year-old driver of the Nissan Murano was transported to a local area hospital where he died, police said.
The drivers of the Volvo and Kia were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen also suffered minor injuries, while drivers of the Toyota minivan and the Subaru refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
An investigation is continuing.
