Everything Christmas Pop-Up Returns To Plainview

PLAINVIEW, NY — Those looking for some new Christmas decorations have a dedicated store they can go to: Everything Christmas in Plainview.

Everything Christmas is part of a chain of pop-up stores that open around the holidays to supply, well, everything people need for Christmas — lights, trees, exterior and interior decorations, and tons more.

The Plainview Everything Christmas is located at 409 South Oyster Bay Road, in the Woodbury Plaza shopping center.

The chain is owned by Long Islanders Howard and Pam Frank, who have been operating the pop-ups for 15 years. But the Plainview location is run by Neil and Linda Wasserman, who live in East Meadow.

Neil Wasserman said he and his wife worked together for more than 30 years, but decided to retire a few years ago. After three years of retirement, Wasserman said he started to go a little stir-crazy, and decided that running a seasonal business would be a good change.

He and his wife first tried running a pool service company on the North Shore, but found it wasn't for them. Then he found Everything Christmas, and realized it was the perfect fit for them. They run the store three for months, and enjoy their retirement the rest of the year.

It is now the Wassermans' fourth year running the franchise (they were closed in 2020 due to COVID, or else it would have been five).

"Each franchisee does something a little different," Wasserman said. "I went a little higher-end in this store because of the neighborhood I'm in."

Wasserman said that his store stocks tons of lights, tabletop decorations, gift wrapping supplies and gifts, too. He said they have "a tremendous amount" of stocking stuffers. The store also sells figures of New York sports icons, which are made by local artisans.
