Father Of Killed Hostage From LI To Attend Trump's Address

WASHINGTON, DC— Ronen Neutra, Plainview resident and father of American hostage Omer Neutra, will be in the gallery when President Trump addressing Congress on Tuesday night.

“With so much going on, we cannot forget that our local resident, Omer Neutra, was murdered, and his body is still being held hostage by Hamas," said Suozzi (D-NY3).

Omer Neutrawas serving as an IDF tank commander near the Gaza border when he was killed during the surprise attack on October 7th, 2023. Until December of 2024, it was believed that Neutra had been captured alive. Hamas still holds Omer’s body hostage in Gaza.

Suozzi met with constituents Ronen and Orna Neutra, Omer’s parents, in Tel Aviv in December of 2023, and invited them as his guests to President Biden’s final State of the Union address last year.

Neutra grew up in Plainview and joined the Israeli Army after graduating from The Solomon Schechter School of Long Island.

“It has been 17 long months since Hamas's brutal attack on Israel. Everything possible must be done to get all the hostages home, so those who are alive may return to their families and so those who were killed can be laid to rest in dignity,” Suozzi concluded.
