Long Islander Alex Kushnir Joins Major Electrical Transmission Project
Long Islander joins one of the most important electrical transmission projects in over 40 years

Propel NY Energy is one of the most crucial electric transmission projects in more than 40 years. A joint project of New York Transco and the New York Power Authority, it is designed to upgrade and strengthen the region’s (parts of Long Island, Westchester, and New York City) energy grid and will create a more sustainable and reliable system for the metropolitan area.
One of the most important aspects of the project is stakeholder and community engagement. Playing a key role with the project’s outreach efforts is NY Transco’s Alex Kushnir of N. Bellmore who joined the project as Stakeholder Manager. Kushnir brings more than 12 years of experience with National Grid working on many projects including the Natural Gas Transmission infrastructure installation in Nassau County.
“For a project like Propel NY Energy, communicating with key stakeholders is absolutely critical to its success,” stated Kushnir.
Part of his responsibilities is to keep communities, municipalities, civics and electeds informed, ensuring transparency and open communication throughout this major infrastructure project. When he is not in the field with stakeholders, Alex loves to cook for his family. He picked up this passion as a youngster being alongside his mother and grandparents while they prepared meals for the family. If not in the kitchen, you can also find him coaching youth basketball or competing in beach volleyball and softball.

“We’re a family that fully leverages all of the natural beauty Long Island has to offer by spending as much time as possible at the park, on the trails, fishing or on the beach,” said Kushnir.
As part of the Propel NY Energy stakeholder outreach, they are hosting a series of Community Information Sessions for the public to attend and attain more insight into the project. The project team has already visited in Hicksville and Farmingdale, and the remaining schedule is as follows:
