Man Charged For Stealing Replica Gun From Nassau Museum: Police
The non-working gun was swiped from a mannequin on the display last week at the Museum of American Armor, police said.
OLD BETHPAGE, NY — There has been an arrest for stealing a non-working gun from a mannequin on display at the Museum of American Armor last week, police said.
Gerard Asaro, 71, of Mastic, was charged for Friday's incident at the Old Bethpage museum, police said.
Asaro told police that the media exposure caused him to go back to the museum in an attempt to return the replica pistol, authorities said.

He was arrested at scene without incident on Wednesday, police said.
An investigation indicated the firearm was damaged while in his possession, police said.

Asaro is charged with third-degree criminal mischief and petty larceny, police said.
He was released on an appearance ticket to return on Tuesday, June 24 at First District Court.
