Man Rips Off Mannequin's Pistol From Display At Long Island Museum

The incident happened at the Museum of American Armor on Friday.

OLD BETHPAGE, NY — A man committed a larceny on Friday afternoon at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, police said.

A man removed a non-functioning pistol from a mannequin's holster and placed it into his pocket, police said.

The male walked out of the front of the building on Round Swamp Road and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

A surveillance photo released by police describes the man in his 60’s, approximately 5’10’’ tall
and heavyset in weight with grey hair and a grey mustache. The man was last seen wearing a green baseball cap with a rifle on it, grey polo shirt with an emblem on left chest and brown canvas shorts, police said.
