PLAINVIEW, NY — The community will gather to remember Omer Neutra this weekend. The IDF soldier was killed by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.

On Feb. 24, the legislature unanimously approved Drucker's resolution to rename Manetto Hill Road between Washington Avenue and Old Country Road as Captain Omer Neutra Way.

During Neutra's service as a tank platoon commander on October 7, Hamas terrorists launched abrutal assault upon the Israeli homeland — the first of its kind in decades. Neutra was one of the 1,139 people killed during the attack during a battle in the vicinity of Nir Oz, a small kibbutz located near Gaza.

Since the vote, Drucker worked on coordinating the proper tribute to Neutra’s legacy.

“Omer Neutra served with distinction, courage and unwavering commitment to the values he held dear throughout his life – and when he was murdered on Oct. 7, 2023 by Hamas terrorists, it became our duty to ensure that his legacy lives for eternity and the victims of this barbaric atrocity are never, ever forgotten,” Drucker said.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m.
