New Details Released, Help Sought In Nassau Father's Slaying
BREAKING: Nassau County police on Thursday released more information in the shooting death of Justin Gottlieb.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Police have unveiled new details in the hopes the public will be able to help solve who killed a Plainview father, who was shot to death earlier this week as he sat in an SUV.
Justin Gottlieb, 27, left his work in Jericho around 5 p.m. Tuesday and drove home in a red 2002 Ford Explorer. The vehicle had a license plate of EBJ 2643.
He was followed to Margaret Drive East by a light-colored four-door sedan that police said might be white in color. Someone in that vehicle opened fire on Gottlieb around 5:30 p.m., police said. Gottlieb died at a hospital.

"We are inquiring anybody that were on the roads that day, if they saw this Explorer interacting with a white, four-door sedan, whether it looked like a road rage or some kind of argument — or anything that looked out of the ordinary, we're asking for the public's help," Nassau police detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, commanding officer of the homicide unit, told reporters at a news conference Thursday.
Crime Stoppers asks that anyone who can identify the subject or who has any information about the shooting call its toll free hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $5,000 is offered.

Within hours of Gottlieb's slaying, tributes and donations poured in from members of the community. A GoFundMe account was also created to raise money for the family, describing Gottlieb as intelligent and pure-hearted. Patch has verified the authenticity of the account.
By Thursday afternoon, more than $69,000 was raised for Gottlieb's family.
Relatives remembered Gottlieb as "wonderful young man" who had his whole life ahead of him.
