Paralyzed Plainview College Student Gets Reality TV Home Makeover

PLAINVIEW, NY —When Plainview college student Rebecca Koltun was paralyzed in a ski accident last year, the Long Island community rallied around her and her family, raising almost $1 million in donations. Now, a home improvement reality show will embark on "one of the largest projects in show history" to outfit the Koltun family home to accommodate the 21-year-old's needs.

NBC's "George to the Rescue" will return for its 13th season later this month, and like previous seasons, the show films many episodes on Long Island.

Hosted by George Oliphant, the show aims to identify individuals or organizations who deserve renovations based on an inspiring life story or good deeds.

Koltun spent months in rehabilitation facilities in Boston and then Long Island, and an assisted living facility, before she was able to move home with her parents.

But the Koltun home needed "major interior and exterior accessibility renovations which are improving Rebecca’s quality-of-life," according to a statement from the reality show.

Koltun's episode, titled "Rebecca's Reveal," will air on April 2 on NBC and NBC streaming sites.
