Plainview Diver Who Won County Title Honored By Town
Plainview-Old Bethpage senior Greg Meder won the county diving title, and is heading to the national competition.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the Town Board honored Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School Senior Greg Meder for winning the Nassau County Boys Diving Championship with a score of 529.05.
“Greg’s County Championship required nerves of steel and an exceptional final dive to win the title and, like every champion athlete, he performed at his best when it was needed most,” said Saladino. “We congratulate Greg on this athletic achievement and wish him good luck in the Nationals.”
Recently, Greg placed 3rd at the AAU Red White & Blue Qualifiers in Rochester. This qualified him to compete in the Nationals in the 1 Meter Diving which will take place in May.

“This is also an amazing story of improvement and perseverance, as Greg tirelessly worked at his craft and made steady improvements from his freshman year,” said Councilman Lou Imbroto. “He finished 3rd in the county last year before taking the top spot this season. With Nationals on the horizon, this young man embodies the New York spirit of ‘Excelsior’ as he continues his path ‘ever upward.’”
