Plainview Group Holds Event For Homeless Teens

You can donate items to fill a duffle bag at the May 21 event.

PLAINVIEW, NY — The homeless crisis is being turned into a fundraising opportunity in Plainview.

The Plainview Chamber of Commerce is joining forces with the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District to collect supplies for teens experiencing homelessness.

Mid-Island Y JCC and other community groups are part of the May 21 event.

It takes place from 6-8 p.m. at the Mattlin Middle School.

The goal of the POB Power of Belongings project is to fill 500 duffel bags with various supplies, including toiletries and activity kits. A "wish list" of items sought can be found on Amazon.
