Plainview Zombie House Leveled As 'Owner Failed To Act': Supervisor

The Town of Oyster Bay got relief from the courts after complaints about rotting exterior and garbage on the lawn.

PLAINVIEW, MY — A zombie home in Plainview was demolished recently by Town of Oyster Bay officials.

The town sought court intervention to remove the property after receiving neighborhood complaints about the rotting exterior, collapsing roof, along with garbage and debris littering the yard, the town said.

"This property was completely uninhabitable, dangerous and a community eyesore," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said.

The property owner demolished the home after the Supreme Court issued an order granting the town’s demolition motion.

Saladino said the town had to intervene "after the owner failed to act."

The Town Code Enforcement Bureau is charged with the application of all codes, rules and
regulations dealing with zoning, housing and public safety.

Councilman Lou Imbroto said: "We’re taking back neighborhoods and removing eyesores from the Town of Oyster Bay. Our Town Board is committed to protecting your quality of life in the
Town of Oyster Bay while paving the way for new homes and new families."
