Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School student Rishaan Sen was recently honored as a contestant at the John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize Awards Weekend in London. Rishaan was recognized for his outstanding essay submission in one of the competition's seven subject categories, ranking his work among the best from thousands of international entrants.

The John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize is a prestigious international competition designed to cultivate independent thought, depth of knowledge, and persuasive writing in students. Entrants must be 18 or younger and compete by submitting an essay of 2,000 words or less that addresses one challenging philosophical or academic question. This year, the competition drew submissions from tens of thousands of registered students from over one hundred countries, making Rishaan’s selection a significant achievement.

The awards weekend in London provided an opportunity for the essayists to celebrate their achievements, engage with challenging ideas, and build a sense of community with peers from around the world. As a contestant, Rishaan received a scholarship to attend a John Locke Institute Summer School. The institute's programs, held in locations such as Oxford and Princeton, are known for bringing together exceptional students to develop critical thinking and reasoning skills under the guidance of world-class professors.
