POBJFKHS Students Honored With UN Community Service Awards

Jacob Levine and Leah Kalish Recognized for Volunteerism, Combating Hunger

Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFKHS) juniors Jacob Levine and Leah Kalish were honored by the United Nations Association of the United States of America as 2025 National Community Service Award winners. The awards celebrate students who advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through local action.

Leah Kalish received the Merit Award for contributing over 20 hours of community service, including volunteer work and organizing initiatives. Jacob Levine earned two distinctions: the Ambassador Award for surpassing 100 hours of service and the Zero Hero Award for his leadership in combating hunger through food drives and advocacy.
