BETHPAGE, NY — The man responsible for the stabbing death of two people at the A & A Deli in Bethpage on Thursday morning has been identified as the couple's son, police said. He is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deaths. Authorities said an altercation preceded the violence.

When police arrived at the scene at 9:11 a.m., officers observed 30-year-old Vito Dambrosio of Seaford standing in the parking lot in front of the store, Nassau County police said. He had blood on his hands and on his clothing, police said. Police said they had a short conversation with him before placing him in handcuffs.

Angela Pulisciano, 62, was found with stab wounds in her throat, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Antonio Dambrosio, 70, was found with stab wounds to the neck as well. He was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to authorities, Dambrosio arrived at the store and had an altercation with his parents in the back room, stabbed his mother, and then turned the knife on his father.

Police said earlier in the morning, in an unrelated incident, Dambrosio slapped the buttocks of a female coffee shop worker. That was reported to police, but further details on the location of that incident were not immediately available.

Dambrosio also reportedly had a domestic incident with one of his siblings in November and was out on bond when the stabbings took place, police said. He has an ankle monitor and an order of protection against him, police said. According to police, they believe the altercation with his parents was in relation to the domestic incident.

He is currently being treated at a hospital and will be having a bedside arraignment on Friday.
