String Of Break-Ins At Nassau Jewelry Stores Yields 4 Arrests: Police
The break-ins happened at three jewelry stores in Plainview and Levittown, police say. Four men have been arrested.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Four people have been arrested in a string of break-ins at jewelry stores in Plainview and Levittown.
The break-ins happened April 14 at The Jewelry Studio and Solomon Fine Jewelers in Plainview, as well as May 12 at Sophia Jewelry in Levittown, Nassau County police said Friday.
Duran Smith, 23, and Alexandre Manigat, both of Brooklyn, were previously taken into custody and appeared in court May 12, police said. Shawn Gibson Phillips, 27, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested June 14, and appeared in court a day later. On Thursday, Quayshaun Canady, 31, of Queens, was arrested. He appeared in court that day.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered that Smith and Manigat had a loaded handgun with a 15-round magazine, leading to additional charges, police said.
Duran Smith faces charges of burglary, grand larceny, and criminal weapon possession.

Alexandre E. Manigat faces the same charges, as well as resisting arrest.
