2 Of 4 Robbery Suspects Pursued By NYPD Elude Cops Near CT Border

Cops were following the suspected crew on I-95 when they jumped off the highway in Port Chester and ditched their car at a shopping center.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A police pursuit that started in New York City ended with the suspects making their escape in Westchester County.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the NYPD was following a suspected robbery crew from Queens on the New England Thruway.

The vehicle continued into Port Chester where the occupants attempted to flee on foot. Two suspects were immediately apprehended, while two others fled into the rear of the Kohl's shopping center.

A perimeter was set up and a K9 track was attempted, but because of the heavy brush and rainy conditions, the dog was not able to pick up the trail. With the assistance of the NYPD, Westchester County Police and surrounding jurisdictions, a search was undertaken, but the two suspects were not found.

The suspects are believed to have been involved in a number of robberies where weapons were displayed across the New York City area, according to officials.

"We believe that the suspects have fled the area, and at this time there is no specific concern to Village residents," Port Chester police officials said in an incident notification released Sunday afternoon. "We thank all the area jurisdictions for assisting in this search."
