Today’s opportunity is a Sock Drive for Children through the Sharing Shelf. Something as simple as socks, which are daily basic necessities, can be a luxury for children and families living in poverty. More than 60,000 Westchester County children — or 36 percent of public school children — live in poverty or low-income homes. The Sharing Shelf needs volunteers to help provide essential socks to more than 3,000 children and teens served each year. Volunteers can purchase athletic socks in all sizes, from toddlers to adult shoe sizes for teens. This is a great opportunity for families, friends, community groups or work colleagues.
