Bystanders Hold Port Chester Robbery Suspect Until Cops Can Arrive
Investigators say the suspect assaulted a worker, pushed her out of the way and stole cash from the register of a N. Main Street business.

PORT CHESTER, NY — Port Chester police had a little help from a few good Samaritans in nabbing a robbery suspect.
On Sunday afternoon, Port Chester police were alerted to a robbery in progress at a N. Main Street travel agency/money transfer business.
While responding, units were told a suspect had fled the scene of the robbery on foot.

As police began to search for the suspect, 911 calls came in about a disturbance in the marina parking lot. Cops arrived to find passersby holding a man on the ground.
Investigators said a pedestrian in the area had witnessed the man run from the store after hearing a commotion coming from inside the store. The bystander chased the man and, with help from those nearby, subdued the suspect until police arrived and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect was later identified by the victim of the robbery, according to police. A substantial amount of cash from the robbery was found with the suspect, officials said.
Investigators said that the suspect, a 34-year-old Port Chester man, confronted the store clerk, assaulted her, pushed her out of the way and removed the cash from the register.
