Clay Art Center To Fight Hunger in Westchester County with Empty Bowls
You can help feed the hungry by purchasing unique handmade ceramic bowls made by over 50 Clay Art Center artists and students.

PORT CHESTER, NY — You don't need to perform a miracle to feed your neighbor — you just need to shop for handcrafted ceramics at a special Clay Art Center fundraiser.
The Clay Art Center is helping to raise awareness about food insecurity and hunger in Westchester County during their biennial Empty Bowls fundraiser. For more than two decades, the CAC, along with hundreds of community members and artists, have created thousands of handmade ceramic bowls in partnership with the Rye Presbyterian Church.
2022's Empty Bowl fundraiser will take place at the Rye Presbyterian Church, located at 882 Boston Post Road in Rye, on May 22, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Beautifully crafted bowls made by over 50 CAC artists and students will be available for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to the Carver Center and Meals on Main St. in Port Chester.

The Empty Bowls fundraiser has raised more than $75,000 so far in the fight to end hunger in Westchester. After the 2020 Empty Bowls was canceled due to the pandemic, the CAC hopes to have a record-breaking event this year to make up for the missed year.

"We are proud to participate in Empty Bowls as our way of giving back to the Port Chester Community by raising money to support two great organizations, the Carver Center and Meals on Main Street. Please join us by purchasing a handcrafted bowl and help families in need in Port Chester," said CAC Executive Director, Emily Peck.
As part of the partnership between the CAC and Rye Presbyterian Church, the CAC provided the church's youth group with a free workshop, where the children had the opportunity to make bowls that will be offered for sale at the fundraiser, alongside the handmade bowls by CAC artists and students. The youth group will also help run the event by creating signs, helping to set up and collecting money from bowl sales.
