PORT CHESTER, NY — When your kids head back to school in the fall, they might just be able to truly say they made the most of their summer vacation without having to visit exotic locales.

The Clay Art Center (CAC) announced its award-winning summer camps for kids ages 7 - 15 will be held from June 26 - August 18. The center promises kids will be able to "discover the art of summer and make friends, memories and art."

Children will be able to log off and unplug with mud in the CAC's weekly themed camps. Focusing on wheel throwing, handbuilding and sculpture, campers will be shown a variety of techniques on and off the wheel. Camps for ages 7 – 11 will focus on handbuilding and sculpture. Camps for ages 12 – 15 will focus on wheel throwing and handbuilding. Camps themes include: Wheel and Beyond, Surface Design Time, Candy Crush, Amazing Animals, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, and Ancient Architects.

In the classroom, the aspiring artists will get the chance to develop their imaginations and build confidence, while working in the "transformational" medium of clay. The CAC's nurturing teachers, who specialize in kindling a passion for creative expression in children, have a reputation for knowing how to make their camps special by creating an atmosphere of learning, fun and friendship.

The center explains that your child will discover the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands, a rarity in today's technology-focused world. Campers will craft everything from mythical creatures, animals and world culture artifacts to handmade cups, bowls and plates that families will treasure forever.
