PORT CHESTER, NY — The Port Chester Fire Department waited two centuries to celebrate its 200th anniversary, so what's another week?

Not only did it rain on the firefighters' parade, but the rotten weather kept the firehouse jumping instead. Crews responded to 19 separate incidents over the weekend, ranging from alarms, car crashes, a airport emergencies and mutual aid requests, according to the Port Chester Fire Department.

The forecast calls for a sunny Sunday with temps in the 70s when the rescheduled parade starts at 3 p.m.

The parade will begin at the top of Westchester Avenue before making a left on North Main Street, a right on Adee St, and ending in the Marina Parking Lot. If you're not going to the parade (and why wouldn't you be going to the parade?), Port Chester village officials are suggesting motorists avoid the area.

Fire trucks have helped to make parades extra special for generations. Just imagine how special this Sunday's parade will be, especially now that the anticipation has had an extra week to build.
