PORT CHESTER, NY — Fighting an early morning blaze in a two-story Port Chester building was complicated by frigid temperatures and reports that there were people still trapped in the structure.

Shortly after 4:30 this morning, firefighters were called to Broad Street after reports of a fire. Heavy flames were already visible from the rear of the two-story vacant commercial building when the first crews arrived.

While additional resources were called to the scene, ladder and rescue companies forced entry into the building and began searching for victims. Firefighters faced down heavy fire, high heat and low visibility to confirm that the burning building was unoccupied.
