PORT CHESTER, NY — An alert bystander saw something that wasn't right and tried to do something about it, but got more than bargained for when weapons were brandished, police said.

Early Monday afternoon, the Port Chester Police Department got a call from a concerned citizen who witnessed a theft from a FedEx driver making a delivery.

The good Samaritan followed the suspects' vehicle and attempted to box the vehicle in from leaving until police arrived. That's when investigators say the suspects brandished a handgun and threatened the witness of their misdeeds.

The concerned citizen was still able to provide a description of the vehicle and direction of travel. An alert was sent to all area police departments and a Westchester County Police Department officer tired to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled and was eventually stopped on I-87.

During the course of the chase, the suspects began throwing packages from the car, police said. The discarded items have since been recovered by police.
