Good Samaritan Rescues Woman From Blaze, Sadly Pet Dog Not As Lucky
Rescuers attempted to save animals from the burning home and tried to resuscitate the dog, but unfortunately, those efforts failed.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A harrowing house fire exacted a dear toll, but the homeowner escaped with her life, thanks to a good neighbor.
On Thursday afternoon, Port Chester firefighters were called to Madison Avenue for a house fire. First responders found the three-story home engulfed in flames
Additional crews from Port Chester, City Of Rye, Purchase, Tarrytown, Rye Brook, and the Town of Mamaroneck were called to the scene. Port Chester immediately started searching to make sure no one was in the home.

Unfortunately, fire officials said, during those searches, animals were pulled from the building. Resuscitation was attempted by Fire, EMS, and PD units on scene, but sadly, one dog died.
A good Samaritan rescued the homeowner prior to fire crews arriving, and she was taken to the hospital by Port Chester EMS for treatment and evaluation by doctors.

The house fire was the Port Chester Fire Department's second major fire this week. On Monday, a massive three-alarm downtown fire that started in a vacant building closed several roads near Main Street and caused delays and cancellations on the nearby Metro-North New Haven Line.
Monday's fire is being investigated as "suspicious."
"We are thankful for our members and our mutual aid partners for their service and extreme dedication to the residents of our village," Port Chester fire officials said in a statement.

In addition to the fire departments who assisted at the scene of yesterday's house fire, crews from Harrison, West Harrison and the Village of Mamaroenck provided coverage while Port Chester firefighters had their hands full.
