Late Season Heat Wave: Village Opens Cooling And Charging Center
The week in Port Chester is starting with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s, and the NWS has issued heat advisories.

PORT CHESTER, NY — It isn't often that emergency cooling needs to open after Labor Day, but this week, needs must.
Village officials are taking steps to help the community keep its cool and stay charged up as the mercury makes things uncomfortable out there.
As summer packs one final punch for the Sound Shore, the Port Chester Senior Center will remain available to the public for use as a cooling and charging center, according to village officials.

According to the National Weather Service, oppressive heat and humidity are expected to continue on Wednesday and Thursday.
The center will remain open to all on Friday from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. Village offials said the hours could be extended if needed.

The Port Chester Senior Center is located at 222 Grace Church St., at Port Chester Village Hall.
