PORT CHESTER, NY — Balancing the scales of justice and tracking cold-blooded deeds are all in a day's work for the men and women of the Port Chester Police Department, but solving their latest case might call for the expertise of a real pet detective and a little help from the public.

A local resident managed to save a precious live delivery from the dead letter office, but finding the rightful owner of a misdelivered parcel of reptiles remains elusive.

"If you lost your lizards and iguanas we have them at the PD. A box of live reptiles was delivered to a wrong address," the Port Chester police wrote on social media Saturday afternoon. "Needless to say the addressee was quite startled when they opened the box. After catching all the animals we secured them, until a local animal sanctuary can pick them up for safekeeping. Everyday is different here in PC."
