'Parking Ticket' Scam Being Investigated By Port Chester Police
Officials warn about con in which callers pose as court officials, promising a plea deal for non-existent parking fines owed by victims.
PORT CHESTER, NY — Port Chester police say a new scam, this time involving the courts, is making the rounds.
Pontential victims are being called on the phone and told that they owe several thousand dollars in parking ticket fines, to the Port Chester Courts.The marks are than offered a "plea" deal in which they need to pay several hundred dollars via money order as soon as possible or face possible arrest, police said.
Victims have come to the court to find they still have outstanding violations or, in many cases, were never were issued any violations in the Village of Port Chester.

"No one will ever call concerning any plea deal, from the court," the Port Chester Police Department said in a scam alert issued on Thursday. "If you have any questions, contact the court prior to sending any money."
The PCPD said it is investigating the scam.
