PORT CHESTER, NY — Police say that a classic confidence scheme has been dusted off by scammers and has resulted in at least one Port Chester victim being fleeced.
Early Thursday afternoon, the victim of the con was approached by two other women on Midland Avenue. The victim was befriended by the suspects, who convinced her that they had a winning lottery ticket, but due to unexplained reasons, they couldn't cash it, according to officials.
The victim was tricked into returning to her home and giving the suspects a deposit for the winning ticket, prior to being cashed in, police said.
