Saints Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps Gets Set for a New Season

Port Chester musical group performs in Crawford Park on Saturday.

The Saints are coming.

The Saints Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps of Port Chester is getting set to kick off a new season of performances and competitions. Today, the group is practicing at Crawford Park throughout the day and is set to give a 4 p.m. performance for families and local dignataries.

There will be a party with a barbecue and ice cream for the group after the performance.

The Saints Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps is a community based non-profit organization whose members learn musical enrichment and performance skills through the activity and the arts. Part of the group's mission is to strive to instill qualities such as honesty, dedication, team work, commitment and pride.

Many of the group's members are students who are part of the Port Chester High School marching band program and the season of parades and competitions for the Saints picks up as the high school season finishes.

Members of the group also help the community by mentoring young people on Friday's at Port Chester's Carver Center. As the group has been growing, it has also seen invitations to big events. In January, the Saints Brigade took part in the homecoming parade in Mamaroneck for Carly Rose Sonenclar, who became a local star after her apperanaces on the TV show X-Factor.
