String of Larcenies By Deception Have Police Warning About Grifters
Police say that the victims are usually approached by a vehicle, occupied by a man and a woman, ostensibly trying to sell jewelry.

PORT CHESTER, NY — All that glitters is not gold. Police are warning Port Chester residents to be on the lookout for a familiar swindle making the rounds in the village.
Over the weekend, the Port Chester Police Department posted that a handful of larcenies by deception had taken place throughout the past week.
Police say that the victims are usually approached by a vehicle, occupied by a man and a woman, ostensibly trying to sell jewelry.

In each of the incidents, the suspects gain the victim's trust and the victim eventually allows the suspects to help try on the new jewelry, but instead, the mark's own jewelry is removed and the suspects flee leaving behind worthless display jewelry.
In one instance, a victim said a knife was displayed and his jewelry was forcibly taken.

Police say that these are not isolated incidents to just Port Chester, and there has been an uptick in these types of confidence crimes in the area.
Port Chester police are reminding everyone to be cautious of anything that seems too good to be true and to be careful if approached. They say they are currently working with other law enforcement agencies to locate those behind the recent rash of deception crimes.
