Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Volunteers Needed To Engage With Kids Through Play

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Volunteers to Play With Kids
Volunteers are needed to engage with children through play using toys, games, and activities while their parents participate in educational activities in the same room. Volunteers will support a safe, joyful, and stimulating environment for children while staff are available to assist if needed. Court-mandated volunteers are not accepted for this activity at this time.
Date: 8/19 from 9-11:15 a.m.; Tuesdays

Program Interns (College Students Only)
DOROT Westchester is seeking an Academic Intern to provide support for its programs, including Friendly Visiting, Package Delivery, Intergenerational Chess, Cardmaking, and Birthday Revelers. Tasks include data entry, making phone calls and responding to emails, and supporting with additional office tasks. Volunteers must be college students.

Bags of Love Donation Drive
Back-to-school season can be especially challenging for families in need. 914Cares is hoping to alleviate that stress by encouraging volunteers to provide a "Bag of Love" for a local child in Westchester. Volunteers can select which child they want to sponsor and then purchase brand-new items from their wish list that will help them start the school year feeling seen, supported, and ready to learn. This is a great opportunity for families and colleagues!

Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board is a group of young leaders who work directly with One Paso to guide and improve mental health services designed for their peers. Members share their perspectives, brainstorm new ideas, and ensure youth voices are included every step of the way. This is a meaningful opportunity to gain leadership experience, connect with the community, and make a positive impact on youth mental health. Advisory Board members must be between the ages of 13–21.
Date: Monthly for at least one year
