1 Driver Hurt In Crash Aboard Port Jefferson Ferry On Wednesday Night: Police
"This was a complex and unusual incident," Port Jefferson Fire Department officials say.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The driver of a vehicle was injured in a two-vehicle crash aboard the Port Jefferson Ferry on Wednesday night, a Suffolk police spokesman said.
The driver was taken to a local hospital by Port Jefferson EMS with minor injuries, authorities said.
The crash happened at around 5:20 p.m., according to police.

In a Facebook post, the Port Jefferson Fire Department said one of the vehicles was heavily damaged and wedged against the wall of the aft ramp on the starboard side, and firefighters had to pull it back up the ramp onto the top deck, where it was then placed on go-jacks.
From there, a winch was used to lower the vehicle back down the fore ramp, the department's post said.

"This was a complex and unusual incident," the post continued. "However, the collaboration between fire department personnel and the ferry personnel led to a safe and productive outcome."
