- Port Jefferson protests against abortion laws: Carrying signs with slogans like "We won’t go back," demonstrators across Long Island and nationwide Saturday urged the preservation of abortion rights two days before the U.S. Supreme Court begins a new term that includes a case aimed at overturning the constitutional right to an abortion. Hundreds rallied in Great Neck, Huntington Station, Lindenhurst, Port Jefferson Station and Smithtown.(Newsday)
- PJ Fall Art Walk: From Oct. 18 thru Nov. 1st, over 30 participating businesses throughout the Village of Port Jefferson will display original art work by local artists for public viewing in their front windows. Maps will be given out of locations of artwork and listing of the artists. Sponsored by the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Night Herons. Self-guided viewing, the public can leisurely meander Main and East Main Streets Maps are also available at participating businesses and at the Port Jefferson Chamber office, 118 W. - It's Pumpkin Beer Season !: To help navigate this season of craft pumpkins, Greater Long Island put together a guide to local breweries for some of Long Islanders’ favorites, as indicated to us through a social media request. Included are breweries that have grown to household names in their second decade, and some that are still fledgling. From Montauk to Oyster Bay, it's worthy to try pumpkin beers right here on the island. (Greater Bay Shore)
- Port Jefferson Library "Dump the Junk" Program: On Oct. 9, Port Jefferson Library host a clean up you junk day! The event will take place in the parking lot and will help the community to get rid of all the unwanted items such as electronics, medicines, paper etc. The only restrictions are for large appliances like microwave ovens, fluorescent bulbs, and alkaline batteries. So , if you are looking forward for a deep fall cleaning this year, save the date and enjoy the help ! (Port Jefferson Library)
