Pet adoption agencies in and around Port Jefferson have dogs, cats and other animals ready and waiting for someone to take them home.(Patch)

Port Jeff School Promotes International Day of Peace: Edna Louise Spear Elementary School fifth graders connected with students from across the world during class activities for the International Day of Peace. Students in Christine Wicks’ and Christine Bokina and Kristi Krieg’s classes learned about the Peace Crane Project as well as how to fold an origami crane and write a message of peace on its wings. Laura Kelly and Paige Lohmann’s class wrote letters to peers in a school in Essex, United Kingdom, that described the Port Jefferson school community and what it is like to grow up in a close-knit village by the harbor.(Port Jefferson School District)
  3. Theatre Review: "Grease" Theatre Three -Despite all the angst, anxiety, and acne, teenagers somehow manage to have fun in the sun and fall in love. Theatre Three’s slick production of the classic romantic musical comedy Grease captures the essence of those peer-pressured, hormone-driven, rebellious high school years that initiate the rite of passage from adolescence to adulthood.   4. Nearby News: NY COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers in effect, unvaccinated let go from jobs. Northwell Health says around two dozen staff members have already been terminated for refusing the vaccine and the rest of the unvaccinated workers will be fired as well. Nassau's Office of Emergency Management is being activated to help hospitals deal with possible staffing shortages. Gov. Hochul says if there aren't enough workers, she's also ready to bring in the National Guard to take their place. (News12)
