Adoption Fees Waived at Save-A-Pet For Veterans on Sunday
Shelter in Port Jefferson Station honors veterans by offering free adoption of adult cats and dogs.

, the Port Jefferson Station animal shelter and adoption center, is saluting veterans by waiving their adult dog and cat adoption fees over Memorial Day weekend for those who served in the military, according to an announcement by the shelter.
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Save-A-Pet waived their fees and they will do it again on Sunday between noon and 4 p.m.
Active soldiers or veterans can bring in any type of military identification to apply. The shelter said that all normal adoption procedures will still be followed and applicants will be asked to complete an adoption form.

“We are happy to be able to say ‘thank you’ to our veterans and encourage them to save the life of one of our wonderful animals,” said Dori Scofield, president of Save-A-Pet. “At Save-A-Pet, we believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all, including our orphaned pets.”
