- Deer rescued after being stuck for 18 hours in Port Jefferson Station: A doe has been freed after being stuck on her back for 18 hours between a PVC fence and a concrete wall. The Strong
Island Animal Rescue received a call from a homeowner in Port Jefferson Station about the doe. Rescuers had to saw part of the fence and pull apart the slats in order to free her. The deer was very wobbly after being stuck upside down, but took off down Huron Street after 20 minutes. (News 12 Bronx) - Port Jefferson Library: It's slime time! As the spooky day is coming up fast, Port Jeff library created fun and hands on programs for 7-9 years old kiddos. "It's slime time" and "Glow sticks Broomsticks" are some of the Halloween fun activities being offered this month. So, if you think that your kids will enjoy gluing crazy eyes in slimes, making funny broomsticks and decorating spooky pumpkins, take a look at the library website and let's the fun begin! - Nearby News: Two men injured in drive-by shooting in Coram: Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting in Coram on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said. At about 10:40 p.m., a 27-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were traveling westbound on Middle Country Road, near Winfield Davis Drive, in a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg, "when they were each struck once by gun shots fired from a passing motor vehicle," police said. The men were transported to a local hospital for treatment of "non-life-threatening injuries," police said. (Port Jefferson Patch)
