1. A group of Port Jefferson residents gathered at Mather Hospital to protest against the plan to remove trees, trails and paths as part of the hospital's plan to expand the parking lot. The group was led by the EcoLeague, founded by activist Holly Fils-Aime. Protesters expressed their concerns about the impact on nature the tree removal will result. (TBR News Media)
   
2. Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce features the "Soles for All Souls" 5k run/2k walk on Oct. 2 at 9 a.m., rain or shine. The event is hosted by the All Souls Episcopal Church in Stony Brook. Register online at: active.com. (Port Jefferson CofC)
3. Theatre Three has its season of "Guys And Dolls" sizzling until Oct. 22. The musical is one of Broadway's best shows from its golden age, rocking the songs of Frank Loesser.
