- Historic Long Island House Destroyed In Fire: A late night blaze tore through a historic Long Island home on Sunday. The fire broke out in a vacant home at 325 Middle Country Rd. in Coram that is referred to as the Norton House at about 11:30 p.m., Suffolk police said. The structure "became fully engulfed and collapsed during the fire," police said, adding that no injuries were reported. (Port Jefferson Patch)
- Greystar buys Port Jefferson Station rental complex for $118M: Long Island’s Port Jefferson Station has notched a hefty multifamily transaction courtesy of rental behemoth Greystar.
The Vistas of Port Jefferson sold by The Benjamin Companies, based in Garden City, for $118 million, according to Long Island Business News. The transaction closed last week and about 80 percent of the complex was occupied at the time. Charleston, South Carolina-based Greystar swooped in shortly after construction on the complex was completed, LIBN reports. Construction began in May 2018 on the Vistas of Port Jefferson, which sit on 27 acres of land at 588 North Bicycle Path. The complex is made up of 30 buildings for renters who are aged 55 years and older, consisting of 244 units in total. (The Real Deal) - Nearby News: The Boulevard in Yaphank wins town approval for more residential units. A whole new community’s worth of townhouses could be coming to the 322-acre, mixed-use Boulevard in Yaphank complex that has been under construction for seven years. On Sept. 30,
the Town of Brookhaven approved an application by AVR Realty Co., the Boulevard’s developer to amend restrictive covenants of its planned development district. With the amendment, AVR Realty Co. can build an additional 152 residential units at the southwest corner of the site,where was once the old Parr Meadows horse track just north of the LIE and just west of William Floyd Parkway. - Schedule an Appointment to Donate Blood or Platelets: "The Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank uses apheresis to collect the platelets that are needed to treat patients in the Stony Brook University Hospital. During a platelet donation, whole blood is removed from a donor and processed through a specialized apheresis machine using sterile tubing. The machine separates and collects the platelets from the whole blood and returns the remainder of the blood back to the donor.
