  1. A 22-year-old woman originally from Long Island disappeared while traveling in Wyoming, and her desperate family is pleading for help about her whereabouts. Gabrielle Petito, whose family is from Blue Point, was traveling in a white 2012 Ford Transit van with Florida license plate QFTG03 with her boyfriend when she stopped communicating with friends and family. Two hotlines are available for anyone who has tips and information that helps to find her : 941-429-7382. In addition, the FBI Tampa Field Office is assisting with this investigation. Tips can also be called into 1-800-CALL-FBI or submitted to Tips.FBI.gov. (ABC7NY )
  2. The Longwood Board of Education is pleased to announce the approval of two administrative appointments. Congratulations to Kimberly Longo on her appointment to the position of director of Curriculum for ELA, Math, and Science, and Amy Staubitz as the new coordinator of Student Support Services. Both are teachers at Coram Elementary School and now will start the new school year with their new roles. (Longwood Central School District)
  3. LI native Jim Breuer cancels comedy shows over COVID-19 policies. Breuer took to social media to announce canceled shows in New Jersey and Michigan because the theaters require that spectators either be immunized or show a negative COVID-19 test. (LI News 12)

  5. Dragon Boat Race Festival returns to Port Jefferson Sept. 18. Dragons will roar on the North Shore once again as the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce hosts the 7th annual Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race Festival on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The free event will take place at Mayor Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park, 101A E.
