Man Arrested After Pointing Laser at Military Helicopter: Police
"While I was waiting for the sleeping pill to kick in, I went outside to play with my new toy," the 72-year-old wrote on his Facebook page.
MOUNT SINAI, NY – A 72-year-old Long Island man was arrested after he pointed a laser at a military helicopter Wednesday night, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, the Town of Islip notified 911 that a laser had been pointed at an Army National Guard helicopter about 1o miles northeast of Long Island MacArthur Airport at about 9:45 p.m.
A Police Aviation Section helicopter responded and determined that the laser originated from a home on Shore Road in Mount Sinai. Sixth Precinct officers responded to the residence and arrested Robert Simione.

Simione was charged with second degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. He will be arraigned at a later date.
In a since deleted Facebook post, Simione wrote that he took a sleeping pill and then went outside to "play with my new toy," referring to a $7 laser he had received in the mail, News 12 reported.
