Man Fled Cops After Driving 130 MPH With Headlights Off In Suffolk: Police

The driver fled when police tried to stop him, and his car was found at his home, police say.

CORAM, NY — A man was arrested Friday night after Suffolk police said he fled a police-initiated traffic stop in connection with reckless driving during the previous week in Ronkonkoma.

Members of the Street Takeover Task Force attempted to pull over a 2004 Infinity sedan that was
speeding at 130 miles per hour, without headlights on, on the Eastbound Long Island Expressway, around 11 p.m. June 22, police said.

The driver, Matthew Serritella, 21, fled, taking Exit 61 southbound on Patchogue Holbrook Road, police said.

The Street Takeover Task Force found the Infinity at Serritella's Coram residence around 7:50 p.m. Friday, police said.

Serritella was arrested and charged with reckless driving and unlawful fleeing from police and was issued 13 summonses, police said. The vehicle was impounded, police said. He is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on July 17.
