Motorcyclist Killed In North Amityville Crash: Police

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A man is dead, after his motorcycle was struck by a car in North Amityville on Wednesday, Suffolk County Police said.

Wilmer Castillo, 43, of Copiague, was riding a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on New Highway at about 12:50 p.m., when he struck a southbound 2021 Dodge ProMaster van that was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Albany Avenue.

Castillo was then to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he
was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Dodge was alone in the vehicle and was uninjured, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
