  2. Port Jefferson Station housing gives serenity and affordable rent for low income residents. For veterans and people with disabilities, nonprofit housing complex is a place that feels like home. The 77 unit apartments complex on State Route 112, which opened earlier this year with a focus on providing homes for veterans and people who ordinarily would not be able to afford to live near where they work, a change that feels like serenity. The rent unit is affordable and offers an exercise facility, computer lobby and transportation for the residents. (Newsday)
  3. P.J. Harbour Club: Located at 154 W. Broadway, Port Jefferson, and with a lovely view of the Sound, the Harbour Club Restaurant made it to the list of places to try this fall. Chef-partner Joe Guerra’s menu is eclectic, ranging from New American (raw tuna ribbons with avocado and yuzu-miso vinaigrette) to Italian (baked clams, pasta, cioppino) to Continental (onion soup, Caesar salad). You can also see the influence of his own Portuguese heritage in the bolinhos della casa (shrimp-cod croquettes) and a starter of pork belly with clams. Entrees include four steakhouse selections, including broiled porterhouse with potato pavé for two, four or six people and a herbed veal chop with Belgian endive and pancetta cream sauce. Have fun and bon Appetit! (Pj Harbour Club)
  4. Nearby News: Petito's memorial service. Hundreds of mourners on Long Island stood in a line that wrapped around the block to attend a public memorial service for Gabrielle Petito on Sunday. People were able to pay their respects between noon and 5 p.m. at Moloney’s Funeral Home in Holbrook. A live stream of the service provided by the funeral home included eulogies from Petito’s father and stepfather. Petito’s father, Joseph, remembered his beloved daughter as an adventurous spirit who was the light of his life. (Pix11)
