PJ Station-Terryville Survey Asks Residents to be 'Eyes and Ears' of Town

Town officials are asking for residents' input to help make the town's Main Street more pleasing, safer and more enjoyable by filling out a questionnaire that was sent to homeowners as part of the Port Jefferson Station Commercial Hub Study.

The survey, created by the Port Jeff Station Commercial Hub study group and funded by the town, is for the planning project for the Rt. 112 corridor in the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Hamlet. 

Officials are calling for a "bottom up not top down approach" to the planning and are looking for openness and maximum outreach in the community. The questionnaire consists mainly of yes or no questions but leaves a full back page for residents to write down specific comments and questions. 

Topics range from the creation of sidewalks, to traffic congestion as well as housing needs. According to officials, the survey was sent to all residents within the hamlet.

"We picked up the first few days worth of survey returns at post office yesterday and have 71 filled out so far," said Charles F. McAteer, PJS Community Hub Study CAC chairman.
