  1. On May 9, Port Jefferson Board of Education candidates had the opportunity to address some issues they said will improve in the district if elected. This year, Ellen Boehm, Randi DeWitt, Paul Ryan, and write-in candidate Don Pollard will be running in the BOE election on Tuesday, May 17. (TBR News Media)
  2. PO'BOY Brewery in Port Jefferson to host a Comic Brew on May 28. A fun evening with hilarious stand-up comedians and beer and cider is the plan! Tickets are $15 per person and include a choice of drink. (Patch)
  3. The Jazz Loft will celebrate six years of music and education! Back in 2014, friends Tom Manuel and Ray Anderson wanted to create a place where jazz musicians would perform their art, and then The Jazz Loft came into reality. Located at 275 Christian Ave. in Stony Brook, the venue has been the main stage on Long Island for all levels of jazz lovers. The big celebration is scheduled for May 21, with Bill Mays performing, and there will be a cake! (LongIsland.com)
  4. Suffolk Police are asking for the public's help to identify and locate a man who tried to break into the Celtic Crossing Tavern in Kings Park on May 10. The security system caught the action at 3:15 a.m. showing the suspect trying to break the door with a shovel. Anyone with information, please call 1-800-220-TIPS. (Daily Voice)
  5. Angels of Long Island hosted a baby formula drive to help families struggling with the formula shortage. The shortage started in February due to supply-chain issues and a recent recall by Abbott Nutrition. (News 12 Bronx)
