  1. Port Jefferson residents will vote on a $25 million proposal to finance school upgrades on Dec. 12. Although the improvement plan sounds very promising, it has been facing the opposite from some residents concerned about the increase in taxes and the environment. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
  2. Have you noticed that Port Jefferson has been looking pinker recently? The Paint Port Pink is Mather Hospital’s annual breast cancer awareness outreach aiming to educate the community and bring all together to fight the disease. (TBR News Media)
  3. Village Of Port Jefferson announced that a board meeting would be hosted on Monday, Oct. 17, at the Village Hall. This session is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. (Port Jefferson Patch)

  5. A shooting occurred on Sunday night on the front porch of the candidate. U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin house. According to a press release, Zeldin's twin daughters were home when they heard gunshots outside the house and called 911. During the incident, Zeldin and his wife, Diana, attended a Columbus Day parade in the Bronx. (Patch)
